Cooking with Clove

Essential oils are very potent compared to dry seasonings, spices, or other flavouring agents, so even the tiniest amount can add a serious blast of flavour to your dish. When using Clove in cooking, it is best to use the toothpick method – dip the tip of a clean toothpick into the essential oil bottle and stir the toothpick into your ingredients. After you’ve stirred the toothpick around in the dish, do a taste test to see whether you want to add more of the oil or not.

Why Madagascar?

Clove trees require a tropical, humid environment. They have been growing in Madagascar for approximately 200 years.

Clove Sourcing

How Does it Work?

   Madagascar

The clove tree is originally from Southeast Asia, and most of the production of clove is for the spice industry. It takes a clove tree about 3 years to mature, but they can live to be more than 100 years old.

The essential oil comes from the buds on the tree. Right before they blossom, the buds turn bright red, which means they are ready for harvest. After the buds are harvested, they are dried in the sun. The buds are then steam distilled to produce the essential oil.
