From the leaf of a tall grass native to Asia, Citronella essential oil has a crisp, fresh aroma. It is an ideal companion for camping, hiking, and anywhere else you might go to experience the beauties of nature. Applied topically, it can be soothing to the skin and scalp and, due to its levels of citronellal, it may also help to promote clean skin.
Keep out of reach of children. Possible skin sensitivity. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician.
Citronella is an easy crop to grow and reaches maturity, about 2 metres high, very quickly. Though it can be planted anytime during the year, it is best to plant it with the onset of monsoon rains.
The citronella plant is first harvested after 6 months, then every 3 months after that – with up to 5 harvests a year depending on soil fertility. The essential oil comes from the leaf, which can be fresh or partially dried before steam distillation.
You will find your Quality ID on the bottom of doTERRA single essential oil bottles purchased after May 2016. The Quality ID will contain a series of six or seven numbers and one letter.
